St. Louis County Police Department. Information about the criminal past.

The St. Louis County Police Department has introduced a new online portal on the St. Louis County's website for accessing and requesting public records. This collaborative effort among various county departments aims to provide users with a more convenient and consistent experience.

Central Records

The St. Louis County Police Bureau of Central Police Records is situated in Room B-013, accessible only from a street-level entrance off Central Avenue. It's open to the public from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, except holidays, offering services such as criminal history record checks, police reports, sex offender registration, concealed carry permits, security officer licensing, and fingerprinting services. Note that some applications have specific cutoff times, so it's advisable to arrive before 4:00 P.M. for permit or license requests.

Criminal History Record Checks

Individuals can request criminal history record checks for both St. Louis County and St. Louis City. To obtain one, you'll need specific forms of identification, and the cost is $4.50 for each record check within St. Louis County or the City of St. Louis, totaling $9.00 for both.

Special Provisions

The records will include open arrest and conviction information for St. Louis County and conviction information only for St. Louis City. Employers are advised to consider EEOC laws when using arrest/conviction information for employment decisions. Records won't be issued for individuals with outstanding warrants until they clear their record.

Employer Checks

Employers must use specific forms and submit notarized statements along with a $9.00 payment for each application.

Police Reports and Traffic Accident Reports

St. Louis County Police Reports are available ten days after the reported incident for $6.50. You can obtain a copy in person or by mailing a notarized request, specifying your involvement in the report.

Sex Offender Registration

Convicted sex offenders must register with the county's chief law enforcement official within three days of changing residency, Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. (excluding holidays).

Concealed Carry Permits

Detailed information on the procedure for obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit is available on the website, along with application forms. Note specific eligibility requirements.

Private Security Licensing

For professional licensing of security personnel, call (314) 615-4272 during the hours of 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Be aware of certain disqualifications when applying for a license.

You can now submit public records requests through the following link: Public Records Request.

Note

Extended wait times may occur on Mondays, Fridays, and the last week of each month. A nationwide criminal record check will be conducted for license applicants.
